Compact Scholars Program Graduation
Reception Planning Committee
The Compact Scholars Graduation Reception is an annual tradition started with the inaugural graduating Class of 2010. It is a celebration that recognizes the efforts and achievements of many:
• The graduating SDSU Compact Scholar
• San Diego State University
• The Sweetwater Union High School District
• Our community partners
• The parents, family, and friends that have supported the graduating
student in their educational journey
This celebration is a culminating hallmark in a Compact for Success journey that officially began for our students when they were in middle school in the Sweetwater Union High School District. At that time, the Compact Scholars we celebrate today, entered into a “compact” that assured them that if they made a commitment and worked hard to achieve the academic benchmarks outlined by the Compact for Success, SDSU would then guarantee them admission when they were ready to matriculate to the university. This reception recognizes the fulfillment of that shared commitment—the fulfillment of a college dream realized. The students not only met the benchmarks, they met the program goal—to succeed and thrive at SDSU as college students to one day earn their bachelor’s degrees.
